National Mental Health Resources

Navigating the mental health landscape can feel daunting, but you don’t have to do it alone. These national organizations offer advocacy, educational tools, and peer-led support systems to help you understand your options and find long-term stability.

  • NAMI: Free education programs and support groups led by people with lived experience. Call 1-800-950-NAMI Monday through Friday 10AM – 10PM. Note this is not a crisis line, but a valuable resource for finding long-term support.
  • MentalHealth.gov: A great place to start if you need general mental health information and advice.
  • Mental Health America: Focus on prevention and treating conditions before they reach the emergency stage. MHA offers validated mental health screenings and has over 200 human-run affiliates across the US that help people navigate local care systems.
  • National Federation of Families: 120 chapters across the country. Supports parents and caregivers of children with mental health or substance abuse issues.
